There is no law forbiding two vehicles from being side-by-side in the same lane as long as there is sufficient room. Lane sharing is supported by 21754(b) which states that you may pass on the right as long as there is sufficient room to do so and it can be done safely. 21754: The driver of a motor vehicle may overtake and pass to the right of another vehicle only under the following conditions: - (b) Upon a highway within a business or residence district with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width for two or more lines of moving vehicles in the direction of travel.
