According to the Orange County Homeless Assessment, people experienced homelessness 35,065 times in 2007 - 24,545 of these homeless episodes involved families with children!

Splitting Lanes has adopted two families from the South County Outreach.  Using funds donated by club members, associates, friends, and the general public, we are able to help two families have a Thanksgiving and Christmas to remember despite their situation. A special thanks to those that donated.

Splitting Lanes Motorcycle Club is more than just a common love for motorcycles.  Splitting Lanes is also about helping our communities.  Helping our communities is a year round activity, but it's more prevalent during the holidays.  Some of our own members know what it's like to be poor or even homeless.  So this holiday...  Let us help those in need.

*update*

On November 21st around 5:00pm Splitting Lanes Motorcycle Club went to deliver the holiday food to our two families.  Both our families were in the City of Irvine.  Our first family met us with a huge smile of excitement over the motorcycles that were there to help deliver the meal.  Pictures were taken on the motorcycles and they gave us a thank you card.  This family is very humble and enjoyable to be around.  Good luck in Track!  It felt good knowing that regardless of the situation, this family was going to have a fantastic Thanksgiving meal.

Now on to our second family…  Again we showed up on the motorcycles and a support vehicle.  We were greeted with another excited and humble family.  We carried the holiday meal into the dining area, had introductions and a glass of water.  We then went outside to look at the motorcycles and take a couple pictures.  It was another great feeling to know that this family, despite their unfortunate situation was going to have a fantastic Thanksgiving meal.

We then geared up to head back home when out of nowhere appeared not one, not two, but three of Irvine’s finest.  With traffic blocked in each direction one officer standing next to his car asked what our patches said.  Without hesitation we answered ‘Splitting Lanes Motorcycle Club’.  The officer then pulled our Sgt-At-Arms over near his vehicle and started asking question about what we were doing here and what not.  Our Sgt-At-Arms proceeded to explain very calmly that we were there delivering a holiday meal through their Adopt-A-Family services.

Another officer went to the door of the family we just delivered food to and said good night to.  The man of the house confirms our services and the officer lets us go about our business.  The entire ordeal lasted about 15 minutes and both Splitting Lanes Motorcycle Club and the Irvine Police Department were very professional.  Irvine Police Department was responding to calls from the neighborhood about an outlaw motorcycle gang.  During the officer's professional, non-condescending, and overall pleasant investigation (considering the circumstances), it was determined that we were not a threat to the neighborhood.

Unfortunately we failed to get the names of the officers but we will be making a phone call to the watch commander and notify them of our scheduled delivery of the Christmas meal and toys.
